Children’s Hospital Colorado’s Heart Institute is one of the largest, fastest-growing pediatric cardiac care programs in the country – and one of only eight stand-alone pediatric research centers in the country. Here, nearly 250 cardiac experts work together to provide care for all kinds of congenital heart diseases.
A commitment to quality, safety and research make the Heart Institute unique for the depth and breadth of its clinical programs for patients, from before birth through young adulthood. We have received the top grade possible from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, which means our heart surgery outcomes and patient survival rates are in the top 5 percent of all pediatric heart programs across the country.
Some of our areas of expertise include:
The Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) Lab, which uses minimally invasive catheters to reach and repair heart problems -- allowing for many conditions that once required open-heart surgery to be corrected in our lab.
Our Department of Pediatric Cardiovascular Surgery uses state-of-the-art technology and world-class surgical care to correct heart problems. Our cardiac surgeons also co-lead one of the largest heart transplant programs in the country.
Top pediatric cardiologists at our outpatient Pediatric Cardiology Clinic evaluate children with known or suspected heart disease and provide tests, such as electrocardiogram (EKG), echocardiogram (ECHO) and exercise testing.
