Publicly traded securities are great assets to give. They are easily valued without an appraisal, and easy to transfer. Donating appreciated securities before they are sold typically results in a tax advantage.
A tax deduction is normally allowed based on the market value at the time of the gift. Since the deduction is based on current value, rather than cost, no tax is paid on the appreciation.

Give through your Donor-Advised Fund (DAF)
A donor-advised fund, or DAF, is a personal charitable vehicle that donors can establish at a public charity such as a community foundation or financial institution. A DAF allows donors to make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate income tax deduction, and recommend grants from the fund over time to qualified nonprofits, such as Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation.
Currently, donors can recommend grants to Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation from Fidelity® Charitable, Schwab® Charitable, and Greater Kansas City Community Foundation through the link below. More sponsoring charities may be added in the future, so please check back if your fund isn’t currently listed. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact us at 720-777-1700 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Property gifts can include personal residences, second homes, income property, and vacant land. Gifts of appreciated property typically qualify for an immediate tax deduction and result in avoidance of tax on appreciation.
The amount of the deduction for a contribution of real estate is normally valued at the current market value of the property.
For more information about donating land, buildings, houses or other real estate, please contact Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation at 720-777-1700 or email@example.com.

Currently, we accept donations in the Denver metro area and most areas throughout the state. Contact Vehicles for Charity for more information.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. The Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. All donations to the Foundation qualify as a charitable deduction on your federal income tax return.
What do I need to donate my car?
The title to the car must be in your name. We will also need some information about where the car is located and the condition of the car. This will assist us in scheduling appropriate towing arrangements.
Will you pick up my car?
Yes, a tow company will call you to schedule the pick-up of your vehicle. You will need to give the driver the keys to the vehicle as well as your signed title. You will be instructed on how to sign the title.
The driver may have you sign some paperwork authorizing the tow. The driver will leave you a tow receipt showing that he/she collected the vehicle on behalf of the Foundation via Vehicles for Charity.
How is the value of my car determined?
The IRS allows you to take a charitable tax deduction on your federal income tax form equal to the amount the vehicle sells for at auction unless it sells for less than $500. If your vehicle sells for less than $500 you may deduct no more than $500.
If your vehicle sells for more than $500, we will need to get additional information from you so that we can send you a completed IRS form 1098C. We recommend you consult your tax advisor with questions about your deduction from the donation of a vehicle.
